Ivar B Posted April 16, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 16, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) There have been many posts recently praising the MP3. They do not show up for sale very often, but here is one from SH Photo: Leica MP3 LHSA Editi + 1,4/50 ASPH. + Leicavit black NE bei eBay.de: 35mm Rangefinder (endet 23.04.09 18:57:04 MESZ) It seems that he actually may have several, both complete sets and bodies. I cannot recall what they were sold for at the time of launch.
Advertisement Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Hi Ivar B, Take a look here Leica MP3 LHSA set for sale. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
SteveYork Posted April 16, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 16, 2009 What did these sets cost when they first came out? I already know they cost an arm and a leg, but in currency what did they cost? Just curious.
Philippe D. Posted April 16, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 16, 2009 There have been many posts recently praising the MP3. They do not show up for sale very often, but here is one from SH Photo It is funny how some brand new MP3 or MP Classic and their lenses suddenly appear on the market. Boris have four black pieces for sale, one chrome in Japan, with a Summilux 50mm. You can find new black painted lenses those days, Summicron 35 Asph, Summilux 50 and Apo-Summicron 90 Asph. Where they come from at ones ? That's the question.
Ivar B Posted April 16, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted April 16, 2009 I am not sure how many items Boris actually has as some of the listings may be for the same unit - but priced with and without taxes for sale inside or outside the EU. Maybe some of the early purchasers have put the cameras on the market now. The MP Classic is a no brainer. Why pay a hefty surcharge for a standard MP with the lightmeter removed? I don`t know for sure but it may be that this model was difficult to sell and cameras from the first batch are still unsold. I am not sure I like how Leica markets all kinds of ridiculous models like the Øresund Bridge, Royal Wedding and what have you, and most recently an M8.2 in white! That being said, the MP3 is the nicest of all these special versions. I have a set in chrome. I am not sure if the black paint or the chrome versions was the most popular one. sbelyaev Posted April 16, 2009 Share #5 Posted April 16, 2009 The original price was about $6000.
KM-25 Posted April 16, 2009 Share #6 Posted April 16, 2009 B&H sold them new for $8,000. I laughed at the idea of ever owning one then a guy sold me his brand new black paint set for $5,000 two years later.

aesop Posted April 16, 2009 Share #8 Posted April 16, 2009 "...a standard MP with the lightmeter removed?" Is that for real? Why? ...why? Perhaps because they can read all sorts of light. Then again, maybe it simply makes a certain type of person feel special. Unique. Exclusive. For this, they will pay extra for less. Questionable rationale, I say. Alas, this is the world we live in.
