cpclee Posted April 15, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 15, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Final question before I head off to get an M8. I'm offered an M8 in great condition at a very good price, but it does not come with Capture One. (Though it does come with battery and charger.) Buying a copy of Capture One bought from Amazon.com provide me with exactly the same functionality as the version that ships with the M8? Thanks! Advertisement Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Hi cpclee, Take a look here M8 without Capture One. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
thompsonkirk Posted April 15, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 15, 2009 Not everyone uses Capture 1. If you already own Photoshop (ACR), Lightroom, or Aperture, you can use it instead. Kirk
cadthis Posted April 15, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 15, 2009 You might want to download a trial version and try it out first: Phase One - Wilson

Thanks! Yes and No Capture One will give you a special price to Upgrade to Capture One Pro if you have the M8 license number. Other than that, it will be the same program, as the one that shipped with the M8 was an older version eligible for upgrade to the latest version. GBR66 Posted April 15, 2009 Share #6 Posted April 15, 2009 I bought my M8 secondhand and couldn't register the Capture One as the previous owner had (understandably) done so. I tried the trial with Capture but subsequently I have used PS Elements 6+7 and found I have everything I need in the PS Raw converter and PS standard features. If I am missing something then I would be pleased to be put right, but if PS (or Elements) suits you I wouldn't bother with Capture One.
