intex Posted April 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I purchased a Leitz SBOOI 50mm viewfinder for my DLux4, based on its size and other reviewers posts. I am not that happy with it, since I find I am shooting more at wide angle or between, and not that much at full tlelefoto, which equates to the 50mm +/- I hate that Leica did noit incorporate a viewfinder, as in other $100 Digital Cameras. The Leica viewfinder says it is LCD, since my dealer does not know anything about this, is it a true LCD display that shows the exact frame, or is it a regular optic viewfinder set at 24mm?? How could it be LCD, if the hot she is not powered, or is it?? Should I go with a 24 or 28-35 small Voightlander viewfinder instead?? Since nobody near here carries VF's, I feel that my shopping around is getting expensive.

Mrblanchard Posted April 9, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 9, 2009 Why dont you just use the Leica D-LUX 4 Brilliant Viewfinder?
picturelady Posted April 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 10, 2009 I ordered the Yoigtlander 21mm on the advice of members using it. It is due to arrive tomorrow so I will let you know what I think of it. Apparantly it is useful when using the 16x9 ratio and lets you see beyond the bright lines at what is not in the picture. I find that I often use the 16x9 ratio at 24mm.
simon_hughes Posted April 10, 2009 Share #4 Posted April 10, 2009 The Voigtlander 21mm does indeed work very well with the camera.
Lumistu Posted April 10, 2009 Share #5 Posted April 10, 2009 When I bought the Voightlander 21mm D viewfinder, I found that it did not match the FOV when my D-Lux 4 was set to 24mm. I took it back to the store with the camera, and was surprised to see that the Voightlander 15mm D viewfinder was almost a perfect match. Has anyone else encountered this? intex Posted April 10, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted April 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone used the Voightlander 28-35 MINI Viewfinder? Thats the small rectangular one. This is the only other small one I woiuld consider. The Leica model is too large and expensive.

This is the only other small one I woiuld consider. The Leica model is too large and expensive. I use the 28/35. It's a great size for the camera and doesn't block the flash. Of course, you must set the lens to the right focal length. Just look at the display when you change the focal length and align the bar to the "." for 28mm or the "4" for 35mm. If this isn't clear, look elsewhere in the forum for a better explanation of the method. John

Better I don't, but I can't resist: Don't you said you usse 50mm as ussual?, now 28-35? You ask, you don't read, you buy, you paint, you don't like, you ask, you don't read, and you buy, you paint you don't like.... Deja vu? Be happy, people still answering you!
