Advertisement Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Hi eddief, Take a look here d lux 4. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
USA road racer Posted April 3, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 3, 2009 BY all means, DO purchase a DLux4! I have had one since early January and have over 1,200 images already! Unbelievable little camera. If you do get one, make sure you run firmware 1.2 down loadable from Leica's website. Then you can spend just as much as you paid for the camera on accessories! Very easily done. Must haves are a LCD screen protector, extra battery, add on viewfinder ( I got a Voigtlander 50MM because I shoot 50 more than 24), and a good bag to take it all with you. I got a Billingham Airline Compact. It holds everything listed INCLUDING a 52 mm lenser tube with sunshade, Metz 28 flash & batteries, Colorright WB device, 2 52mm filters ( B&W circular polarizer & Heilopan UV) card case & actually 2 batteries, charger, all cables (except the HDTV cables as they stay by the 52"HDTV Sony. Plus the DLux4 manual in the back pocket. Thia bag also fits inside my Billingham Hadley Pro with my other Leica, a VLux1.
Mystic Posted April 3, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 3, 2009 Like Usa road racer said, this camera is definitely worth its money. It has got a high quality leica lens including aperture with f: 2,0-2,8. That means its perfect for avalible light photography and so on. If you want to hear my advise.....buy it
eric_e Posted April 4, 2009 Share #4 Posted April 4, 2009 I'm a DSLR user and just bought a D-Lux 4 two days ago, my first ever Leica. Still getting used to handling something so small and figuring out the menus. I'm very impressed with the lens. Haven't had a chance to take it outside yet but the shots I have taken indoors in low light look very promising.
Tenor1 Posted April 5, 2009 Share #5 Posted April 5, 2009 I own both the D-Lux 4 and the C-Lux 2 models. You can use the DL4 without flash in lower light situations much better than the CL2. The CL2 flash is too bright, in my opinion, and there is no way to lower it. But I still carry it around everywhere and love it's size. I bought the Panasonic viewfinder for the DL4, but don't really like it. I haven't learned how to zoom and use it effectively. Many people here use viewfinders with great success, so don't judge it from my poor camera skills. Get an extra battery, it doesn't last long for me. I like to review all my shots as i take them. That's why I thought using the viewfinder would help. You can turn off the LCD screen while using it. It's hard to find the menu item to turn it off, but it is possible. You will be very happy with the DL4.
integrale Posted April 6, 2009 Share #6 Posted April 6, 2009 I upgraded from the c-lux 2 as well. D-lux 4 is a completely different camera; much better IQ than the c-lux, but also substantually bigger; it is not as 'pocketable' as the c-lux. But still, I do not regret the upgrade - at all. dhsimmonds Posted April 7, 2009 Share #7 Posted April 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) You should get one without hesitation. It is a proper photographers camera if you want it to but also a "point and shoot" if that is what you need. It is a very capable little tool and I never go anywhere without mine now.
