caesium Posted March 27, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 27, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Somebody must of asked this question before. So sorry in advance here goes anyway. What does the designated name mean on Leica lens ie Elmar,Summilux,Elmarit,Summicron,Summarit and Noctilux etc. Are they a trade name or some technical term used to describe the design? I feel sure someone out there will have the knowledge. Thanks for looking at this my first post on The Leica Forum.

aesop Posted March 27, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 27, 2009 Welcome to the forum, Caesium. There have been several threads on this issue, and I suspect there will be more. I have attached one thread below, and I hope you find it useful: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/customer-forum/34416-leica-lens-names.html If you require further information on this matter, the search facility is perhaps the most efficient way to proceed. Thanks.
