TimF Posted March 26, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just bought a new Motor Drive R, but must have done something wrong when I put it on the camera. The wind-on lever only goes half it's travel, and the camera's shutter release has no effect. The drive is now off the camera, but when I had it on there was only an audio tone when I pressed any of the release buttons. Is this fixable, or will I have to take the kit to the dealer for service to sort out?
Advertisement Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Hi TimF, Take a look here My R6 Shutter has locked up. Help! . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
garyp Posted March 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 26, 2009 Clean all contacts, check batteries, and check the little switch on bottom of drive for correct position [ie, not in double exposure mode which is shown by 2 dots]. Hope it's nothing more
TimF Posted March 26, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted March 26, 2009 Thanks Gary, All you suggest looks fine - all batteries check out, both in the drive and the camera cell. The camera, although secondhand, hadn't even had the plastic removed from the bottom (and that was in such good condition it appears the thing had hardly been used). Just now when I tried pressing the drive release, the meter light didn't come on. However, taking the drive off the camera and trying again, the meter did come on (but went off immediately when I took my finger off, suggesting the shutter is not cocked). I put the drive back on and the meter now comes on OK. This was just before typing the preceding; now it doesn't work again. Looks like it's off to the store at the w/e.
