ho_co Posted March 28, 2009 Share #21 Posted March 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hard to tell from the pics but it looks to me like the small lug at the bottom is bent? ... Could also be the spring behind the mount proper, which is supposed to hold the lens against the body. But if it gets out of place, it could catch the lens and prevent its turning. This has been an interesting thread but we haven't solved your problem, gonzo. Be glad you weren't paying for our advice! Let us know how the matter progresses! Advertisement Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Hi ho_co, Take a look here Leica M3 bayonet defect?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Swann Posted March 28, 2009 Share #22 Posted March 28, 2009 <<How that could've possibly happened I don't know.>> gonzo, the dent on the lens's mount ring has got to be milled out 1/100 mm deeper and it just works fine. BTW, I didn't intend to brag about Swiss service. It was ment just as a report of things that happened. Leica M's are marvellous cameras but they need constant service and repair. I know that only from Hasselblad's also. But the care is rewarded with the best 35mm photographs you've ever seen

I've sure learned a lot alone the way :-)
