intex Posted March 23, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 23, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just ordered a SOOBI 50mm viewfinder for the DLux4, hope that it works out, since I have never tried one. It unfortuantely is in silver finish. Has anyone ever painted one black succesfully? Maybe by covering the glass and putting on a matt balck finish? adan Posted March 23, 2009 Share #3 Posted March 23, 2009 The preferred method for blackening Leica gear is BLACK TAPE: http://static.photo.net/attachments/bboard/00A/00Aw9J-21589984.jpg http://photo.net/leica-rangefinders-forum/00Aw3K Easier to remove if you ever want to sell it, or get a silver D-Lux5, plus it has that je-ne-sais-quoi "1960's Magnum photojournalist" look. (Or "1960s starving photography student" look). Black tape is available at pro photo stores and most art supply stores.
tobey bilek Posted March 27, 2009 Share #4 Posted March 27, 2009 I have yet to find a black paint that holds up. Paint is screwed up for environmental preservation reasons. 3M waterproof tape comes in various colors including clear and black. Put a strip on a piece of glass and cut it to size with a razor knife.
