My second Panasonic 14-150 lens failure

My first Panasonic 14-150 lens for my Digilux 3 failed within a few hundred exposures (or should we call them "actuations" in the digital realm?).

After a two-month comedy of errors with Panasonic service detailed here:

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/47609-my-l1-leica-14-50-lens-3.html

I got a new one. It lasted maybe 600-700 exposures before failing the same way. The zoom started to stick just a bit, and almost immediately a tiny part got dislodged which rendered both focus and stabilization inoperative.

I treat my equipment carefully, and have had no issues with the D3 body, its 14-50 kit lens, or the 25mm prime. I assume it's a design defect, and will try to get a refund rather than a third copy of the lens. Wish me luck.

You got all my sympathy, I have one since last October and had no problem whatsoever.

Actually my only real gripe is that the zoom friction is too soft, it slowly extends by just pointing the camera downward. A second one, so to say, is that it has become my walk-around lense, making me somewhat lazy and all my other lenses somewhat useless and getting dust with my bag at home. Maybe not the best lens around, but really a pretty good one when you want to travel light.

Hope you can solve your problem, would be a pity to give up on it.

Best of luck.
