micmojo Posted March 15, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 15, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there, please see attached picture. I took these yesterday with Fuji Neopan 400 in a Leica M6. Developed it this morning in a Jobo Tank using Diafine. You will see some light streaks on the bottom of the image in regular intervals. I found these on about a handful of images on the film (this one is image 13 of 36). Where do they come from - the camera, the Jobo Tank? ... maybe these aren't light streaks but somehow not enough developer reached these areas? Maybe you have seen them before and can help me out... Thanks! Jan P.S hope this is the right section....

stunsworth Posted March 15, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 15, 2009 Do the streaks correspond to the sprocket holes on the film? If so it's likely to be an agitation issue with the developer.
micmojo Posted March 15, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted March 15, 2009 they do - just checked. it appears between the sprocket holes... thanks! I only very carefully agitate with Diafine - maybe it is too careful?
stunsworth Posted March 15, 2009 Share #4 Posted March 15, 2009 When I'm developing I use 4 smooth inversions over a 10 second period.
mmk60 Posted March 15, 2009 Share #5 Posted March 15, 2009 I have gotten this problem once in the past and thought that it was caused by my gentle agitation during development. I have not seen it since I started the inversion method (4~5 times every 30 seconds). Shame that the lines ruined such a lovely photo... mashu

tgray Posted March 15, 2009 Share #7 Posted March 15, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've had this problem with Diafine. I think it comes from not enough agitation. Mostly likely in the 2nd bath. It's bromide drag.
tobey bilek Posted March 15, 2009 Share #8 Posted March 15, 2009 Almost all streaking is from people trying to do gentle agitation which does not remove developer byproducts. The other cause is pouring developer in thru a light tight top on a stainless steel tank. Not a concern with Patterson plastic tanks. Kodak recommends 5 to 7 inversions in 5 sec if you read the PDF files on their site. It is what i do and it works perfectly. Do no fill the tank more than to cover the film so the developer has a chance to move.
