Guest Peter Pommes Posted October 26, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 26, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello! I'm the owner of a D Lux-2 and think about selling it (or giving it away as a gift) to get the new D Lux-3. Is there any difference between the two models considering the glass or the image quality? miami91 Posted October 26, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 26, 2006 No one's done a comprehensive comparison, to my knowledge. However, early reports are that the D-Lux 3's new image processing engine (Venus 3) is so aggressive trying to control noise in higher ISO's that it smudges details a bit. I used to own the DL2 and have had a DL3 for about a week, but haven't shot enough images (or inspected them carefully enough) to say with certainty whether this is true. As far as glass, I'm pretty sure it's the same lens. In terms of non-image considerations, I personally like the 16:9 format LCD, and the black case of the DL3. Jeff.
