uptong Posted March 13, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 13, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have just aquired a bit of a 'different' viewfinder. It's called a KIRN and it works like the Voigtlander Kontur which I found reference to on the Cameraquest viewfinder page. They seem to like the way it works by 'projecting' a frame and giving great virtually unlimited peripheral vision as you keep both eyes open to use it! The unit I have has a fixed shoe and just one frame disc which I presumed was for a 50mm lens but comparing the field captured at the 60mm setting of the Dlux4 the finder appears somewhat narrower field so could be a 90mm frame thats fitted, no markings! Overall an interesting little finder and quite usable for directioning!, Has anyone else come across/use a Kirn finder, not a lot appears on the net about them other than they were made in Scotland at some time. Will I keep it and use it, jury out, it's fun, it's probably useful, but I can't seem to get used to having both eyes open with a camera to my eye. Should I persevere or is an ebay moment coming on!
