Leica M3 without ISO/DIN selector

Hi !

 

i've one problem with my M3, and i need your help, the circle with the "sun" "night " ISO/DIN selector is missing in may camera, and now i don't know how to identify is state. Can anyone help me ? what can i do ?

Hi !

 

i thought that this selection was important for the film, but someone told me that is only for the user memory of the film inside the camera, and not have impact in image quality.

That's right. It is only to let the user know/remember what type and speed film is loaded in the camera. That is IF the user remembers to set it if and when they change film types and or speed.

 

The M3 has no meter so whether set properly or not to the type and speed of the film has no difference on the image quality and exposure.

Although it does come in handy if you don't use the camera much or you change film types and speed often to be able to read it then set your light meter correctly. That again is IF you remember to set the dial if you change the type or speed of the film.
