What we are saying to the OP is for best results you will need to drive on manual, spend a lot of time perfecting your process, practising and be prepared for a steep learning curve (And there is no disagreement at all that this will yield the best results) OR put the formula 1 car in auto mode and sit back to enjoy the ride. Now he states he is 80 years young, and I hope I remain as enthusiastic when I hopefully get there, but in all honesty my opinion is he should enjoy the shooting and the end results without spending time on the bit in the middle. He may however choose to spend less time shooting and more in post processing work which is perfectly valid but at least I thought the option, in the form of in camera jpegs with carefully chosen settings, should be presented.
