edlaurpic Posted February 22, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I love this lens and have used it on a Kodak SLRN (later version of the 14n) with Nikon mount as well as on a Canon 1DS MII with a Nikon to Canon adapter. The Nikkor optics, at least in this lens, are first rate, the 85mm focal length gets me far enough away, and the ability to use the Scheimpflug principle provides an edge for macro work. I have lately stopped using my Canons, long ago sold my Kodak SLRN, and switched fall of my telephoto and macro work to an R9 with DMR, which, in my opinion out-performs any of the 35mm DSLRs out there. Not sure whether this is because of the Leica optics, the 16 bit files or both. I have gotten good results with the Leica 60/2.8 and 100/2.8 Macro lenses, but I miss having the combination of macro and tilt capability (and ability to avail myself of the Scheimpflug principle) that the 85 Micro Nikkor provides. No, I don't want to use a view camera. I have a Hasselblad Arc Body and 22 and 39CF backs, but it takes all day (or seems like it) to set up, get the shot, remember how to process it, etc.). Yes, I know that the soon to arrive S2 is going to have a 30mm tilt shift lens, but not sure whether it will have real macro capability, however, and with that short a focal length, one would be on top of one's subject. So I come back to the 85 micro nikkor. So the question is whether there is an adapter available, or one that can be fabricated (where is Marty Forscher now that I need him) that would make it possible to use the 85 Micro Nikkor on an R9 with DMR?
