I bought a D Lux 3 so I got PS elements 4, Then I upgraded to D Lux 4 and I got C1 Wich I studied (printed the 77 pages of user guide and read and read again) and I like it very much.

Then, I fell on a mint Digilux 2 and jumped on this occasion wich is (in France) quite rare.

When I upload Raw files, PS elements opens and I would like C1 to do it instead of PS elements.

Is it possible?

By the way, it is so fantastic to have a D Lux 4 and a Digilux 2!

Thank you for answering

Friendly regards from south of France.

Adieu, Jean-Luc,

assuming you're on Windows, if the problem is just to open the files in C1 you should just reset the file association to the programme you like better. Raw files from different cameras have different extensions so you must look for both of them in the list.

The point is that the bundled programmes usually work with just the files from the camera they were provided with, and therefore, I'm sorry to say, it's quite unlikely you can open the D/2 raw files with that DL-4 version of C1. As a test, just try to drag&drop a D/2 raw file on the C1 icon and see what happens.

IMO if you want to work with C1, your best (and only) option is to get the full and payable version of it (but check on its site that it supports both cameras before committing).

If you do not like the ACR module in PS-EL, a different solution could be to turn to another raw developer. I can recommend Silkypix, which I've been using since the demise of RSP.

A big bonus is that on its web site you can also find a free version, though of course somewhat crippled vs the full one, but the basic options are all there and its results have always been among the best.

In any case it's worth a try, it's powerful and simple to use, just work your way down from the top of the menu at the left. I have a couple friends who never asked for more than the free version.

Hope this helps.

EDIT:

... just noticed there's another thread with the same subject ... oh well, never mind ...

Hello Jean-Luc

There are probably more options to use in LR2.2 than with C1 but there is also a Quick option similar to that in C1.

In my opinion it is very intuitive to use as a photographer and does have the benefit of lnking directly with Photoshop if required for any final tweaking or printing.

I use C1 for processing my DMR and Sony A900 images and LR for the D2/LC1. I have no problem in switching back and forth between them!

I also have Silkypix but prefer the user interface and final result of LR for D2 image processing.
