platoali Posted February 14, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I want to buy a Summilux-R 50M. I've searched a lot in internet for version specefications, but I could not find anything. I heard that Erwin Put have a book that did explain these. But I could not find it. Would anyone explain or post a link that explain it to me? Serian numbers, shape and which version have a better quality, and how can find which version I am buying. thank you very much. TimF Posted February 14, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 14, 2009 Possibly the easiest way is that the current lens (product code 11344) is a ROM lens by standard; also its filter ring size is E60. Serial numbers, according to my copy of the Leica Pocket Book (7th edn.) begin from 3794010. The first and second versions were respectively Series 7, and either Series 7 or E55. All the versions I've seen on various used kit dealers seem to be the earlier versions. I guess those with the current lens aren't letting them go!
