Hello,

I've bought a second-hand Minilux and can not load film - or, rather, the film would load fine (onto the receiving spool, tight and flat) but the LCD shows a blinking "1" (to which the manual helpfully says "try re-loading" :) - did about a hundred times) so the camera would not do anything. What should I do? Clean film sensors? If so, what do they look like?

Could you please help!

Without film, it seems to work OK...

I own a Minilux and occasionally use it. I have never witnessed such a problem, so I will only guess.

First, perhaps, you should try to clean the film/ISO sensors with a soft, dry cloth. If that doesn't help, make sure the perforation is well aligned with the rails. I assume you align the end of the film with the mark properly.

Another thing is take care of the film cartridge position--it should not protrude from the film's plane, otherwise the back may not close properly.

I'm sorry I cannot open up my Minilux and check any other cause; it is loaded at the moment.

Hope you sort your problem out soon.

Paul

Paul, thank you for responding!

Yes, I have cleaned the ISO sensors, the perforation is within the rails/guides, the canister is not sticking out... Also tried aligning the end of the film with the mark as best I can, giving a bit less and more film (and tried a different roll) - all to not much help.

A bit puzzled by this - electronic failure?

PS The battery seems to be OK, too - at least judged by the indicator.

Just for the record, I had the exact same problem and I figured out what's happen. Minilux has a sensor for frames counting if this sensor is damaged it can't set the number of frames that the film loaded has. My repair centre was able to replace the sensor from a scrap Minilux and now my model is working pretty well.
