carbonadam Posted February 5, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 5, 2009 Good but depressing article. If only Kodak would restructure with their strengths. If they continued as a specialty film company and put the rest into R&D for the future that would seem the best plan. They should cater to people just like us and make it easy for people who buy Kodak film to mail it to them and get back a high quality CD with images scanned to it for a reasonable price. I'd even pay $6-$8 for a roll of film if I knew it came with a mailer and a free CD at the end of the rainbow. They should work the whole old school aspect of FILM as a viable digital medium. As long as they do the scans and provide the CDs, we will come, and in droves too I suspect. They should stay away from hosting and online stuff as well as printing. Just film, scanning and CDs or perhaps online downloads. A few cool artsy film ads and some new film products would be all that is needed to get this going. Granted it would not fix things but it would be a good start. Digital film inserts for any 35mm camera would also be worth doing R&D on.
sdai Posted February 5, 2009 Share #3 Posted February 5, 2009 I've read the article yesterday and hesitated to post a link here. Kodak also says they'll limit their investment in image sensor development and may seek a partner for that in the future as well.
