Advertisement Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Hi Dirk Van der Herten, Take a look here "Do you know the world ?" -- Competition --. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Dirk Van der Herten Posted September 21, 2010 Share #5442 Posted September 21, 2010 So weve ruled out Nepal, China/Tibet, Pakistan, I thought Buhtan was fairly green, so if Frans is not right then India? It's indeed India.
Dirk Van der Herten Posted September 21, 2010 Share #5443 Posted September 21, 2010 Would those dome structures be stupas or chortens, Dirk? Cheers, Ken. Yes, Ken, those are chortens/stupas.
Dirk Van der Herten Posted September 21, 2010 Share #5444 Posted September 21, 2010 Even if we get the country Im lost how I can get it to something like Old Summer Palace of the Kings, or Hemis monastery. Blind luck and guesswork for me. Restauant at the end of the universe? Your blind luck and guesswork have brought you close!
Dirk Van der Herten Posted September 21, 2010 Share #5445 Posted September 21, 2010 A hint. Hemis is not far from the Indus river. If we walk downstream, well' meet an important tributary joining the Indus. In order to reach our destination, we have to follow this tributary. rob_x2004 Posted September 21, 2010 Share #5446 Posted September 21, 2010 Ladakh, outside Leh. Lhachen Phalkar maybe? In any case hte area sounds like it had better get on my to do list.
Dirk Van der Herten Posted September 21, 2010 Share #5447 Posted September 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's not Ladakh. Second hint: the photo shows an old royal palace, and the place we're looking for is the capital of an old kingdom. The previous hint described the approach of the location from the north through Ladakh. But it can also be reached from the south after crossing a high pass called Shingo La. Now you have it on a plate. Almost.
rob_x2004 Posted September 21, 2010 Share #5448 Posted September 21, 2010 Well its getting late and struggling I have my 'dim' cap on. Zanskar, Leh Palace somehow over the back of the old royal palace, museum. I cant match the image though. All teh photography from the area is striking though. Amazing stuff, wherever it is. Dirk Van der Herten Posted September 21, 2010 Share #5449 Posted September 21, 2010 OK, now you're getting very close, the region - and also the tributary of the Indus - is called Zangskar. But what is the name of the location?
Guest Ron (Netherlands) Posted September 21, 2010 Share #5450 Posted September 21, 2010 OK, now you're getting very close, the region - and also the tributary of the Indus - is called Zangskar. But what is the name of the location?
