"Do you know the world ?" -- Competition --

Vous vous trompez, cher Jean.

Quelle domage.....

Well - not Italy, France or Spain. The architecture and foliage looks southern European - this is a really wild stab.... - Monaco? I don't see the Mediterranian though....

Best,

Jan

And chapeau to you too, Noriko, for presenting us with such a challenge.... I am in the office now and will post when home later this evening.

It will be a challenge of a different kind though, as I am running out of challenging digital material.

Best,

Jan

Yes!

My wife, Joanie, and I met almost 39 years ago on Como St. on an island off Tampa, later we stayed at the Paris casino across the strip from the Bellagio casino in Las Vegas; now on this 2009 European vacation we just happened to see the play "The 39 Steps" at the Criterion Theatre in Piccadilly Square--

--and here it all came together--where she had us booked at the Bellagio Hotel in Bellagio, Italy, on Lake Como, with its (long) 39 steps down to the street along the lake. See how far that was by looking at Picture#2 above. Of course, we'll have to spring for the Bellagio next time we're in Vegas. Wow.

Fantastic. Joanie planned the whole trip on the internet, through six countries from London to Zurich, including all lodging and travel by train. (And Doc Henry--we'll always have Paris!) Great memories--and another one was I wasn't too sure how--or if--my film pictures (taken with new/old camera and lens recently purchased on eBay) would turn out when I got back, but I shot seven rolls and am happy with results. Thanks all. :)

Congratulations, Noriko! I pass the baton to you.

Don ,

I have not seen this thread a long time

so I saw tonight beautiful photos of Don and Joan ! .

Excuse me for interfering in your riddle :)

but if I had seen the photo of Don, I responded right away !

It was a great pleasure to meet Don and Joan in Paris

Good luck

Henry

I am literally scraping the bottom of the barrel (pun not intended).......In which city can we find this curiosity and what does it depict?

Good luck!
