I bought a new D-Lux 4 and read through the manual, which tells it should be able to set the minimum shutter speed.

However although I can find this option in the setting manual but I cannot enter it (the min, shutter speed option in the manual is not highlighted).

Would any existing users please advise what should I do? Thanks a lot.

If by minimum you mean slowest.....Not sure if the 4 is the same as the 3, but for the 3 you have to go to scene selection and choose starry sky. You have choices of 15, 30 and 60 seconds.

I just sloved it: this function does not work if I choose RAW. Thanks a lot.

It works for me with RAW, if you're talking about the minimum speed before the camera starts raising the ISO speed in Auto-ISO mode.

Check the instructions since there are a lot of interdependent functions around that lot--Auto ISO, High-speed Auto ISO, iISO etc.

But it does work with RAW.

Yes you are correct, it works with RAW but I have to disable the "intellegent ISO" first. This happens to your camera as well?

I take your word for it. ;)

There are too many do-this's and don't-do-that's for me.

What really annoys me is that the instructions say not to set a higher minimum speed than 1/8 sec or I may get underexposure. That's strange.

I would think I could set, say, 1/30 as minimum allowable. Then as light dropped to require a longer speed than 1/30 sec, the ISO would start rising. Then when it reached the highest allowed Auto-ISO setting, it would start lowering the shutter speed again. That would give me the right exposure and a chance at a good picture.

But if I understand right, in that situation the camera just says, "Hey! You said no slower than 1/30 sec. And I've reached the highest ISO. So I'll just stop doing anything to help."

Anyway, I've still got a lot to figure out on that camera. For the most part it works fine.
