kalina Posted January 24, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone actually redeemed their student discount on a brand new Leica? It would be a nice way of getting 25% off an M8.2. I'm taking classes right now (on my fourth and fifth photography class) and was wondering if this applies to both undergrad as well as grad school photography students. So, what do you do? Send in a copy of your receipt and student ID and wait for a check from Leica?
Advertisement Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Hi kalina, Take a look here Leica Student Discount of 25%?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
kschwarz Posted January 24, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 24, 2009 I do not know about a general Leica student discount, but one of our local colleges (Rochester Institute of Technology) has a campus Photo Store. I know that the RIT photo students get a huge discount on all kinds of gear, including Leica stuff. I do not know if the discount applies to students at other institutions. Why not call them and ask (585 475 - 2503 weekdays)?
gkolluri Posted January 25, 2009 Share #3 Posted January 25, 2009 i found this: Leica Student & Educator Assistance Program the top right has a link to a pdf form, from Leica, with details on the student program, and the requirements. Hope that helps Glenn
dfarkas Posted January 25, 2009 Share #4 Posted January 25, 2009 An authorized dealer charges you the student discount price. You don't have to wait for a check from Leica. On compact digital cameras like the D-Lux 4, you'd get 15% off. On a system camera like the M8/M8.2 you would get 25% off. Pretty big discount. You can be a student, undergrad or grad, or an educator in an accredited photography program. Hope that helps. David
