Advertisement Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Hi Olsen, Take a look here M8 and cold weather. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
falkk Posted January 31, 2011 Share #42 Â Posted January 31, 2011 I had my M8 used in Beijings cold and dry weather - below zero. My experience is, that batteries die quite fast. I found myself in situations, where my M8 has just shut off, whereas around me, hundreds of tourists were using there little cameras without any problems. Â If u put the camera inside the coat, it works, but I like to have my coat closed when its cold. Swapping batteries is also an option, but I am using a Luigi-case... and that takes time. Maybe, its the metal body which cools much faster than other cameras. Â In my opinion, my M8 is not a great fan of cold. same like me... Redridge Posted January 31, 2011 Share #43 Â Posted January 31, 2011 good thread.... I have a 2 (well maybe longer) year old battery, and a brand new one (2 months old). My new def runs longer.... but maybe only 30-40% more. Im happy with the OEM batteries.
graeme_hutton Posted January 31, 2011 Share #44 Â Posted January 31, 2011 I've had a few sudden deaths in temperatures below or around zero. New battery solves the issue. Â Graeme
misha Posted February 1, 2011 Share #45 Â Posted February 1, 2011 m8+ cold weather killed my 16gb SD card. Â here is what happened: Â i tried to do a 4second exposure on a fully charged battery. it was may be -10C outside. needless to say, the camera died/froze on the spot while writing/storing/processing the image. Now, the camera says "SD Card full", my mac (yes i tried rebooting) simply does not see the card. My version is that sudden death/freeze somehow damaged the card's file system. Good thing i backed up before going out that evening. Â I've had this camera/battery/card for 3+ years now and nothing like that ever happened to me. I dont recall ever reading of what just happened to me on this forum. Â misha PHOTOGRAPHY BY MISHA FRIEDMAN Â p.s. my other card works fine.
santdtman Posted February 1, 2011 Share #46  Posted February 1, 2011 I used the M8 during the whole winter, up to temperatures to -10°C without any problems. Only the batterie life lasts not as long as usually. The biggest problem for me is the condensed water on the metal body and the lenses after going inside.
