C1

Hi all , I finally agree that C1 is better for colors with M8 , but I like working with Aperture ,so my question is , what would be the proper workflow ?

Now I process in C1 (wb , etc) then export to tiff 8 bit ( with 16 bit , the nik soft doesn't work ) and in aperture I do all the archiving and cropping , fx etc.

Anyone else use this workflow ?

Thanks

James

sorry , just found out that it does work with 16 bit , but you have to change any setting before on aperture for the plugging ( silverfx pro or other ) to recongnice the file .

Anyone have the same problem ?

James, I'm not sure I am answering your question but I do (nearly) all my processing in C1Ver4 Pro. Only if I need to use layers or dodge and burn do I go to PS. or sometimes to prep for the web. I have started printing from the C1 DNG file using Qimage. This way I am reducing the number of file copies stored and (mostly) speeding up my processing time by avoiding using yet another software step. Still getting my head around some of the Pro features that are notoriously badly explained by Phase One. Their software is good, but their help (!!?) files are lousy. Finding out for oneself is a great (but slow) way to learn. :D

I use three programs - each one a specialist of sorts:

PhotoMechanic to organize and sort, C1 to convert, Photoshop for further manipulation. I know the same programs try be all three of these but I rather like using each tool for its primary purpose. YMMV of course.

Cheers,

Thanks

James

Yes! And it is a highly recommended upgrade if you mind image quality. :D

I haven't gone into some Pro features as well myself, like Color Editor, but you might like to share your conquest with us, either here or on the Phase One user forum (where I hang out quite often).

Well , upgraded to v4 , and everything works fine . I must admit I'm very very happy with C1 now, really nice to use .

You know what us humans are like , we normally stick to what we know , and sometimes its great to have a look around :( . Yes I do prefer C1 . But I'll still go to aperture to use my Nick software tools they are really great too.

cheers

James

I have two laptops. One new Toshiba Satellite with Vista. On this I have installed Phase One 4.0. But I don't like it. Nor do I have a Vista compatible Photoshop in this PC. - Nor do I like Vista. Had I knew that it was 'that' different - and with no real improvment, I would have taken the step to Mac. One advantage with Vista, though, is that it reads the DNG files.

I have an older Toshiba Satellite with Windows XP. On this I have my old Photoshop CS which is only Windows XP compatible. And the Phase One 3.3.7 - which I prefer to use. I have used it since I bought my M8 and have got used to it. So now I prefer to use it.
