Advertisement Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Hi FrankA, Take a look here 4:3 or 3:2 on G1?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
doubledan Posted January 17, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 17, 2009 Frank, The G1 is essentially a 4:3 camera, and the way it achieves the other aspect ratios -- 3:2and 16:9 -- is simply by cropping the image vertically, rather than expanding it horizontally. In other words (as i understand it), you don't really get a wider angle with a given lens, you just get a different shape. Nevertheless, I sometimes find it helpful to change the ratio for convenient framing. For vertical headshots, 4:3. For landscapes, 16:9. For street stuff, maybe 3:2. But you could just as easily bang away all the time at 4:3 and then crop in the computer, or crop your prints. Dan
