Hi to all.

As you probably know (threads "Leica 1a my last chance" and "To restore or not to restore") I'm involved in a Leica 1 A restoration project.

The shutter is completely destroyed and now I'm working in the new curtains. So in a few days I'll need a shutter speed tester to adjust it.

Well. You can make one with a bit of patience and some common components.

You need:

1 BPW40 Phototransistor. 0,13 euros

1 Resistor (between 3800 - 4200 Ohm) 1/4 w 0,04 euros

1 Capacitor (between 4100 - 5000 picofarad) 0,09 euro

1 microphone plug (mono) 0,65 euro

1 1,5 V battery holder 0,26 euro

1 1,5 V battery 0,50 euro

1 plastic case 2,59 euro

1 laser pointer (I have used one that someone gave me in a medical congress)

1 standard circuit board with holes 0,43 euro

1 switch 0,86 euro

And here is the circuit scheme and some photos.

I'll keep you informed about the restoration progress. Next Chapter. "The shutter restoration"

Regards,

Arturo
