willeica Posted December 10, 2015 Share #61 Posted December 10, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear A miller, I'm glad to hear you were tongue in cheek. I managed to get the hood in mint condition at auction for less than half the figure you quote. But the price I paid is neither here nor there in the greater scheme of things. To each his own etc. Your photos are really great and show how breaking the rules can produce great results. William
Advertisement Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Hi willeica, Take a look here Summaron 5,6/28mm. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Rick Posted December 10, 2015 Share #62 Posted December 10, 2015 You guys do realize that this thread will get buried for a couple years and somebody will search and only look at the photos, then conclude the lens flares and sucks. I'd be ok finding SOOBK for a couple hundred $. But, it would be mostly because I like the look of it and not because I'd end up using it much. But, my definition of sucker would be paying more than that. In no hurry. Personally I like buying these lenses because you can actually use them on modern digital cameras and that for me is a lot of fun. Rick

William I agree that $200-$300 for the hood is compelling and would change my POV, even if for only the possible much higher future resale value
jc_braconi Posted December 10, 2015 Share #64 Posted December 10, 2015 I think the hood is totally unnecessary and will rob you of the truly compact nature of the lens for no reason. Don't be a sucker and buy one (assuming you are not a collector). Again I see that value and vulgarity are very close
A miller Posted December 11, 2015 Share #65 Posted December 11, 2015 Again I see that value and vulgarity are very close You're too poetic for me. But your welcome for the very valuable insights regarding this lens. Best from NYC, Adam
