nealf Posted October 18, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted October 18, 2006 Rob, I'm still using the Olympus e-330, it is my primary digital camera and will remain my primary digital SLR even after the M8 comes in. This pana FZ50 belongs to one of my daughter's friends, he brought it by to show me,, the girl in the photo is his girlfriend Jen.

tommycrown Posted October 18, 2006 Share #8 Posted October 18, 2006 Does anyone know about RAW recording speed in Vlux1/Pana FZ50? Tommy
cboudier Posted October 18, 2006 Share #9 Posted October 18, 2006 Neal, your example is very interesting ! I just read this, and the result is not as nice as yours : Luminous landscape
rjans Posted October 18, 2006 Share #10 Posted October 18, 2006 I have read in a magazine that the writing speed of the FZ 50 RAW is rather slow; approx. 6 seconds for RAW against 1 second for jpg file. It was mentioned that the card used was a Panasonic Pro High Speed.
nealf Posted October 19, 2006 Author Share #11 Posted October 19, 2006 Tommy, I tried one shot at ISO 1600 and it was totally useless far too much noise, but up to ISO 400 it seems quite usable; ISO 1600; Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Roger, I didn't shoot in RAW so I can't comment on its capabilities in that mode. I know that the Leica version, the V-Lux-1, uses a different firmwear than the Pana and produces a slightly different image. However I haven't been able to get my hands on one yet. I beleive that the extra year warrentee and the other extras that come with the Leica variant, along with the extra quality control from the Leica personel at the Panasonic plant, (this according to my leica rep.), justify the higher price for the Leica branded model
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! albertwang Posted October 19, 2006 Share #12 Posted October 19, 2006 Very sexy picture... very accurate rendition... perhaps the fill flash is slightly a little weak? For sure... of course, I think that the Vlux looks like it will be able to deliver fairly soon. Yummy.
