j. borger Posted October 17, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 17, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am waiting for a Noctilux ... an earlier version with 58mm filter. Does this lens take every ordinary E58mm ND filter to screw in .... ? .09 ND filter (3 stops) must be sufficient to use it in daylight wide open on an R-D1 (1/2000) and the M8 (1/8000) i assume? Any pointers appreciated .. also with respect to brand of filte.! Thanks! Han
Advertisement Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Hi j. borger, Take a look here Noctilux 58mm & ND filters. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted October 17, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 17, 2006 According to that nice chart on Page 109 of the M8 instruction manual, 2500 cd/m2, which they are saying is bright sunlight at ISO 160 requires 1/250 at f11 and is EV 15 in a meter range of EV 0 to EV 20. That corresponds to 1/32000 at f1, so a 3EV ND filter will take you back to 1/4000 which will be fine for the M8 but not the R-D1.

marknorton Posted October 17, 2006 Share #4 Posted October 17, 2006 J - keep in mind too that the R-D1 only goes down to ISO 200, so you'll need a bit more than and extra stop on the ND filter to get below 1/2000 at ISO 200.
