Hi all.

Can anyone help with a developing problem?I've bought some Fomapan 100 and I use DDX(1-4).No developing time is given on the film or the developer.Ilford are closed until the new year, so anyone got a suggestion apart from experimenting? One guy said 11 minutes @20c.

Ta for the suggestion.I have phoned both Ilford and Foma without much luck.I think 11 minutes is far too long also.Ilford suggested that I look at the time for Fomapan 200 in DDX and reduce the time for 100 iso.this would mean around 5 minutes, that seems a bit too short. However i have some time before i develop the film so no problem now.I might rate the subsequent films at 200 and develop them as stated on the Massive Development site.

Anyway i will take a look at your suggestion.

It's odd, isn't it, that Digital Truth has it for the 200 (6 mins) but not the 100 and 400?

I always use this site for my times (although I don't stick to it religiously it has seen me right). It is in German, but it is pretty easy to figure it out even if you don't sprechen the old Deutsch. PHOTOTEC Entwicklungszeiten-Rechner BUT, no fomapan . . .

I know the massive site, but have found I like the numbers better on the German site. And I like the flexibility to adjust exactly in the calculator for agitation and termperature. It is certainly true there are less films, but I basically only use TriX, TMax or, sometimes, HP5. But I don't really have anything against massive chart.

100 times are pretty well the same (according to the box info I have) or poss a minute shorter than for the 200. Pan F is listed as 8 mins in DDX so I would try 7 and that is in line with quite a few who have said that Pan-F minus a ouch is about right. bear in mind the 100 and 200 are known to be amongst the fastest developing films out there so dont go expecting times like FP4+, D100 etc as these will lead to bulltproof negs. Trust the force and try 6.5-7 mins! If you use a condensor you will easily be able to pump the contrast if flat.

Thanks.I think, due to the information on the net,the guy on one site suggested fomapan 100 in DDX for 11 minutes is wrong.Your timing seems worth a punt.Foma emailed their time of 8-8.5 minutes.I will try about 7.5 minutes.I scan using a nikon coolscan V.'though I do also use the traditional darkroom.

I wanted to try this film because one failure with HP5+ which would'nt scan. This was probably my fault. Also,it is so much cheaper!
