kamilsukun Posted October 18, 2006 Author Share #44 Posted October 18, 2006 A picture from a series on the Irish "Travelers" 1986 - 1989. I worked in Ireland as an artist-in-residence under a grant from the Irish Arts Council. Very strong photography Sean, Deep... Sincere thanks for sharing. pascal_meheut Posted October 18, 2006 Share #45 Posted October 18, 2006 Nice pictures indeed Sean but why wasting your time and pictures answering (this person ABr)? You know, the usual "I will tell you what photography is really about without ever showing you a good one, just hidding behind famous photographers names"... Guest guy_mancuso Posted October 18, 2006 Share #46 Posted October 18, 2006 I agree with Pascal , why waste your time and i know the insults get into your crawl space been there and done that but everyone on this forum knows better. You have a more important agenda to deal with. Get back to work

You have a more important agenda to deal with. Get back to work Hi Guy I am very much at work although not for RR at the moment. I'm responding because my gut instinct tells me to. It doesn't take very long to do and it allows people to make their own judgements. Essentially, what I think about pictures as well as my work itself needs to be an open book in order for RR to be of much value. So, I put things out on there, words and pictures, and take my chances. The whole premise of RR is that pictures in general, and photography in specific, is far more important than equipment per se. It's far easier to be an anonymous sniper (as above) than it is to put real work on the line. Besides, I need breaks from my editing/picture prep work and the M8 with final firmware still isn't here yet (but should be very soon). My head is not clear enough yet to write part 2 of the "Street Photography" series and the other equipment writing is in a temporary holding pattern because the M8 article is first priority. Cheers, Sean

larry Posted October 18, 2006 Share #49 Posted October 18, 2006 Sorry to be a little late for this "party," but I assume that the anonymous poster has been banned? There's no need for these sorts of personal attacks. I quit visiting this site for about a year because of some similar pointless, confrontational posts. I've found Sean's contribution to this forum to be enlightening, helpful and collegial -- please keep it up Sean. Thanks, Larry

Cheers, Sean I know what you are saying and completely understand your point. We all like to back up what we say and do , and I do the same thing . ho_co Posted October 18, 2006 Share #51 Posted October 18, 2006 Sean's work speaks for itself. It's good (makes me want to head for the subway or at least Ireland ). The weirdo isn't even interested enough to find out for himself because his 'principal' told him not to. I don't want to answer his childishness with rudeness; I hope he hasn't been banned, though he deserves to be; I hope he is simply mature enough to realize his inanity isn't wanted here. It would be nice if he would also be man/woman enough to apologize. Nonetheless, I do like his user moniker, KM-25. He has at least some wit if not courtesy. --HC

We all like to back up what we say and do , and I do the same thing . My web site is there for anyone to see even though it needs a major revamping it still is some of my work and what i do and that is who i am. Exactly, this is who I am and what I do. Like it or not, at least I'm not hiding under an anonymous name and taking cheap shots. I don't think that any of us would claim to be happy with every picture we make but some of us sustain the effort. OK, I've given examples, for better or worse. Now back to our regularly scheduled program. Cheers, Sean

abrewer Posted October 18, 2006 Share #55 Posted October 18, 2006 Just some information: No one has been banned. Some people have been asked to cool the rhetoric, and I've been watching this thread and others very closely (as has Franklin) to insure that civility prevails. I too suffered through the "Reign of Terror" we experienced here with certain late individuals and we're not going to do that again. Pictures look great, Sean. Thanks for sharing them with everyone. pemayeux Posted October 18, 2006 Share #58 Posted October 18, 2006 This must really be my week. Actually I am a working photographer and I think my work isn't all that bad. At least before you condemn my work entirely, take a look at the subway pictures that are on my site. Most of my pictures are not on the web at all, mostly only the commercial work I do of weddings and architecture. However, since I'm under the microscope once again this week, there's a selection of work also here: Epson R-D1s - Portfolio Sean Reid Lastly, if you are going to condemn my work, at least pick someone better than Annie Leibovitz as a reference point. To say the least, people can have very different ideas about what constitutes strong work. A lot of commercial work I see leaves me cold. Since you seem to consider yourself the judge of what work is good and bad, what is your web site URL? I'd like to see the work that we should be learning from. I think Mr. Reid's work is great. After reading through this thread I remembered seeing some of Mr. KM-25's work in the photo forum. I'll keep my opinions to myself. http://www.leica-camera-user.com/people/5934-greatest-film-earth.html?highlight=Pie+Town
chrisnl Posted October 18, 2006 Share #59 Posted October 18, 2006 Hello, Why Sean Reid? Call Solms and ask. Cheers, C.M. sean_reid Posted October 18, 2006 Share #60 Posted October 18, 2006 Hi Paul, Thanks and thanks for the link. Well, his first picture in that thread is good, not especially original but it's competent. The second and third picture don't seem to be anything out of the ordinary. I'm hard pressed to see, based on this work, why he feels qualified to determine the quality of work done by the rest of us. Perhaps he has work somewhere that he thinks qualifies him for his pedestal but I don't see anything like that yet. When Helen Levitt, Ben Lifson or Robert Bergman talk to me about my work, I listen. Ditto for Robert Frank whom I'm sending work to. But I think KM-25 may have an over-inflated sense of his abilities to make these kinds of determinations. Cheers, Sean
