samuelphoto Posted December 25, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 25, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, all. I sold my scanner some time ago and am not in a position now to purchase a new one right now. I've built up a backlog of images that need scanning and this will be a continuing need. Would you kindly provide any recommendations you may have for good pro-level scanning service providers based in the continental USA? I mostly need 35mm transparency and B/W service but some medium format too. Thanks very much, and all the best for a much better new year!

gtownby Posted December 27, 2008 Share #2 Posted December 27, 2008 Sam -- I've not used them, but I've looked into a lab not to far from you called Dalmation Photo Lab (Greensboro, N.C.). Looks like they are capable of very high-end stuff. Here's the link: dalmationlab.com Here in L.A., I'm going to continue to explore what Samy's offers (they used a Noritsu scanner on my recent roll of Tri-X -- see my posting "First Dev & Scan - Blown Away" on this forum.) Best.
LMBSGV Posted December 28, 2008 Share #3 Posted December 28, 2008 West Coast Imaging: West Coast Imaging Scan Lab They're not exactly cheap, but the scans are impeccable. They treat everyone, pros or amateurs, with equal respect. Also, their printmaking service is excellent. Their printmakers listen to you so you get a final print that is what you envisioned when you took the photo.
bscott Posted January 2, 2009 Share #4 Posted January 2, 2009 I've had excellent results with Scancafe. Check their website.
Riccis Posted January 2, 2009 Share #5 Posted January 2, 2009 All my processing and scanning is done by Richard Photo Lab in L.A. (Richard Photo Lab)... They are excellent! Cheers,
samuelphoto Posted January 2, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted January 2, 2009 Thanks, everyone. Some good suggestions here, and please keep 'em coming. I've used WCI and they offer fantastic service but are probably the most expensive lab available. Dalmation is a good idea and I'll check them out. Surely there are others! mdozier Posted January 3, 2009 Share #7 Posted January 3, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) CHROMATICS NASHVILLE - Art & Film Scanning Services These guys are pretty good; Nashville isn't exactly local for you but I suppose it's a bit closer than CA. I've used them quite a bit and have always been pleased. They're not cheap, but who is? I do know there are quite a few pros that use them as well. best, Matt
