gonzo Posted December 24, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 24, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Title pretty much sums it up: Unloaded a roll, inserted a new one; tried to advance a frame and there was no tension in the winding lever. I noticed that the film rewind release button was still engaged, managed to release it but only by manually forwarding the film spool. Still not possible to fire the shutter, pretty much everything frozen with the exception of the winding release. Am I in for serious repair costs? I am not sure what caused it, had been working beautifully as always. Any suggestions, or ideas greatly appreciated.
Advertisement Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Hi gonzo, Take a look here Broken: Leicaflex SL winding lever/shutter release. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spydrxx Posted December 24, 2008 Share #2 Posted December 24, 2008 It sounds like the release button hasn't fully disengaged. I'd fiddle with it a little bit. If it doesn't disengage, I'd send it off to DAG or Sherrie and get a CLA, if the camera hasn't ever had one - things get stick on old cameras . When I got my SL2 a couple of years ago, I immediately sent it in to DAG, as I wanted everything working as smoothly as possible, which he did as well as changing to a modern battery and adjusting the pots for proper calibration. steed Posted December 24, 2008 Share #3 Posted December 24, 2008 Sorry to hear of your travails. One quick and harmless suggestion: open the back and, WITH THE REWIND BUTTON DEPRESSED, rotate the sprockets on the takeup side. That may resynch the mechanism. If not....Goldberg. wildlightphoto Posted December 26, 2008 Share #4 Posted December 26, 2008 I suspect the spring that returns the film advance mechanism to the resting position has broken. This repair is not a big deal and I would be surprised if it costs any extra when getting a CLA service on the camera.
