Mauribix Posted December 22, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 22, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi guys, as some of you may know (William and Philip), I'm going to be in San Francisco from January 3rd to January 12th. First of all I would like to invite you and visit the MacWorld Expo (January 5-9) where, as an expositor, I'd gladly exchange some comments regarding the softwares we're going to present (one of them is photography oriented of course!-Geophoto). If you think you're sticking around there, please don't be shy:D but come and visit the "OVOLAB" stand, ask for Maurizio (that's actually me), and let's hope for a drink at least! Then, it would be nice to organize something like an M8's meeting, maybe just the time for a coffee or a drink downtown... what you think? Ciao! kdemas Posted December 23, 2008 Share #2 Posted December 23, 2008 Great idea. I will be at MacWorld as well, as a visitor. There are quite a few M8 users in the Bay Area, hopefully we can all meet, have a nice drink and do a little shooting. Let's hope some more of our friends from the forum see this thread and we can all make some arrangements to meet near Moscone Center, where MacWorld takes place. Guest WPalank Posted December 23, 2008 Share #3 Posted December 23, 2008 Count me in. I plan on visiting the exhibits at MacWorld.
nryn Posted December 23, 2008 Share #4 Posted December 23, 2008 I can try to make it. Unfortunately I missed meeting Mr. Palank at an Adobe Lightroom/Apple Aperture shootout a few months back. Maybe the second time's the charm. I live down the road in Redwood City. Work and a toddler are the scheduling obstacles.

thompsonkirk Posted December 26, 2008 Share #13 Posted December 26, 2008 I'm going to MacWorld too & would enjoy gathering (except Wednesday the 7th when I can't make it). Some spots in the SOMA 'hood: Cafe Museo at SFMOMA is a convenient place to gather in the daytime (except for lunchtime crowding). Upscale Hotel W (I think the bar is called the Z), or downscale Thirsty Bear microbrewery. Thursday evening is 'First Thursday,' gallery openings for photo galleries at 49 Geary. SFMOMA cafe open late that night too. Interesting shooting for those new to the City: Moscone Center via Stockton or Grant (Chinatown) to North Beach & back; or via Kearny (mixed area) to North Beach. jayel Posted December 28, 2008 Share #14 Posted December 28, 2008 Too bad... Since the Mac Plus, this is the very first MacWorld I'll miss, as I'm in Lisbon for the holidays visiting my wife's family (not complaining, I guess, just sorry to miss this great opportunity) Since I'm near Sacramento, hope to be at a next get-together if any spring up. Mauribix Posted December 29, 2008 Author Share #15 Posted December 29, 2008 Ok guys, I'm planning my Expo's schedule, so soon I can fix a day and a place for our meeting. Please consider that from 10.00 am to 18.00 in the evening I can't "escape" from the Expo. It could be nice to have you posting here your preference concerning day and hour of the meeting. We could meet easily in the morning for a breakfast, let's say around 8.00? Any other suggestion is really appreciated. I will be at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, so any place near Union Square/ Moscone center could be great for the meeting... Hope to hear you all soon. Ciao! Guest WPalank Posted December 30, 2008 Share #18 Posted December 30, 2008 Well, since no one is chiming in, why don't we make it the opening day of the expo Jan. 6? I'm pretty much free for breakfast any day that week as I live in San Francisco and my gym is right around the corner (I'm there every morning.) For breakfast we could meet at the Organic Coffee Company at Mission and 4th, on the diagonal from the Metreon. They open at 6AM and serve bagels and breakfast sandwiches. For a place that is a little nicer, Cocola Bakery is on the 4th floor of the Westfield Shopping Center (in front of Bloomingdales) and is a Parisian style bakery with all sorts of pastries and confections baked fresh daily. Unfortunately, they don't open until 8:30 AM. The only way to get in at that time is to use the underground (BART and Muni Powell Station) entrance under Market St. and then make your way to the 4th floor. Let me know what people think. Mauribix Posted December 31, 2008 Author Share #19 Posted December 31, 2008 Well, I just checked the Organic Coffee Company @ Mission and 4th street. That could be great for the meeting. Near the Moscone center too, what about meeting there for breakfast @ 7 a.m.? We could have a first contact, get a good cup of coffee and then eventually plan for a dinner or something else in the days to come. For me that's just fine, so guys, if it's ok for you too, please just confirm your presence here. Thanks William for the hint, that's just perfect! Ciao!
