skimmel Posted October 15, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 15, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Looks like production M8s will be in reviewers hands soon. Given that, I thought it might be interesting to hear what kinds of info people would like to see in these reviews. Of course, image quality overall is of primary importance, and I suspect that Sean Reid will cover a lot stuff in a very thorough manner, but was wondering: what would you all like to see in reviews? I'll start: 1) A comparison of M8 vs. film-based M. Overall comparison of course, but specifically as well: Noise/grain -- different ISOs/film speed Bokeh with different lenses Dynamic range Mostly this will help make decisions about the differences/advantages/disadvantages of moving from film to digital M. 2) Noise of course, particularly in low light situations. (Noise tests in well lit scenes doesn't help me too much since I wouldn't shoot high ISO in good lighting in general). 3) M8 RAW files converted with different programs (I don't think there's anything out there yet except C1, but eventually...) 4) Sensitivity to different colors -- e.g., how does it handle bright reds? This is just a start. I hope others think this is a useful thing to catalogue.
