Pope's D-76?

Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I developed Super XX (sic) in Popes' variation of D-76. It was very close to the Kodak version with I beleive extra borax. Or not. I'm dieing to try it on TriX and TMax, but lost the formula. You could push this stuff unmercifully and still not block up the highlights. Pushed one or two stops, it gave amazing midtones. Anyone have the the dope?

That's going back a bit Jim. Were you thinking of D76 D which can be found in:

 

Kodak 1934 Elementary Photographic Chemistry, page 61 or more recently in

'The Film Developers Cookbook' Stephen G. Anchell & Bill Troop, page 43

 

Buffered Borax Negative Developer

 

Water at 52C 500ml

Metol 2.0 g

Sodium Sulfite Anhydrous 100 g

Hydorquinone 5 g

Borax 8.0 g

Boric Acid 8.0g

Water to 1L
