elansprint72 Posted October 15, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted October 15, 2006 William, You'll need to explain to me what Leica World News is first, and then maybe I'll understand- don't tell me they've ripped off my secret location. Andy, Do you think that your large-print folks could do it? I'm limited to A4 at home. I'm a bit concerned about the lack of detail in the dark bit of the island. btw, this looked nothing special in colour, so I ignored it. Cheers, Pete. elansprint72 Posted October 15, 2006 Author Share #7 Posted October 15, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) William, Only seems to have issue 2006/1 which looks like a load of advertising stuff to me. Oh, and there is an "extreme free-climber"; with more fixed protection than I've ever seen (!); carrying binoculars on a pitch, without a neckstrap!!! What crap. When does this mystery issue come out- early 2007; that would be par for the course Cheers, Pete.

elansprint72 Posted October 15, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted October 15, 2006 Ah, When I bought the D2 I was sent Leica Fotografie International, I believe that they said I would get four issues, only one ever arrived! This was quite a nice mag with good photos and a little advertising, the on-line "World News" looks like hokum compared to LFI. Look forward to Ron's sanps. Cheers, Pete. andybarton Posted October 16, 2006 Share #10 Posted October 16, 2006 The only time I have been sent a Leica magazine was when they were trying to get me to buy the DMR... I am definitely on their database - -they know where to send invoices, that's for sure So, is Leica World News on-line only?
andybarton Posted October 16, 2006 Share #11 Posted October 16, 2006 Andy, Do you think that your large-print folks could do it? I'm limited to A4 at home. I'm a bit concerned about the lack of detail in the dark bit of the island. Try Photobox.co.uk. I use them for my colour prints up to 20 x 30" and I have been very pleased with them. Proper Fuji Archive paper and all that. I have sent my parents some B&W, but have not seen the prints in the flesh yet. Worth a punt.
wizard Posted October 16, 2006 Share #12 Posted October 16, 2006 So, is Leica World News on-line only? No, it's available in printed form as well, usually for free at your Leica dealer. Ron's photo of St. Micheal's Mount is a nice one, been there myself this year, but at that time of the day the sun was more or less behind St. Micheal's Mount (as seen from the coast) and so I took a picture much like yours, Pete, with the buildings on the Mount appearing almost in black. Ron apparently was there in the evening (or early morning). Cheers, Andy
andybarton Posted October 16, 2006 Share #13 Posted October 16, 2006 No, it's available in printed form as well, usually for free at your Leica dealer. The only magazine that Jacobs in Manchester had last week was the issue of LFI dedictaed to the DMR. I expect that they must have given out all the copies of anything newer... elansprint72 Posted November 13, 2006 Author Share #14 Posted November 13, 2006 Wait until you see the 2006/2 issue of "Leica World News"... Finally got to see Ron's shot in Issue 2, the M8 has made a wonderful job of capturing that unique magenta Cornish light that only appears under certain weather conditions.
