Anticipation and Patience and speculation .....

Nobody has been able to take the M8 out for a real life spin yet, as far as I gather te firmware is far from complete, few reports hit the web (fake or true) but yet everybody has "his" thing ready, either Leica delivers the camera sooner than planned so we can all base our thoughts on ACTUAL analisys or let's just all cool it a bit.

I realize that having invested over XXXX$/€ in a product you have not been able to have touch, or even seen yet is quite exciting but all this M8 madness her on the forum is quite disturbing.

This must be a "Man's" thing, I have ordered mine, I will get it as soon as my favorite shop reveives it and thats that. What the use of all these wild speculations, go out and take pictures, treat your wives to an excellent home cooked meal, go play with your kids, spend your time in a more energy effective manner than rumouring about things you don't know shit about yet .....

Kindest regards, as allways .....

Actually my first review of the M8 was based on real life use as was Phil Askey's preview and several other less formal reviews such as those by Tom Abrahamson, Ed Schwartzreich, Henning Wulf (if memory serves), etc. We all have different real life uses for cameras but that experience has certainly been written about.

Also, I'm curious as to what your source is that suggests the firmware is far from complete. I'd have to disagree with that based on my own sources.

Quibble as you wish with the forum's current focus on the M8 but let's keep the facts straight.

Sean

P.S. As for the excitement about the M8....gosh, I'm excited about it myself and so is my photographer wife. If people want to have fun speculating about the M8 and planning for lenses, etc. why not let them? Life is short and we only get so many experiences in adulthood that feel like Christmas Eve. This is just a forum and people are always welcome to ignore posts that don't interest them.

Mark,

Thats Grumpy with a 45 point Bold Times New Roman font type .....

It's not that, it's just this Leica thing I hate, mind you I have been using Leica for quite a while now and I like using the stuff, but there are flaws, it's far from perfect, but it's nice to use.

Take the D-Lux 3 for example, the results of it's sister are pretty well shit, but still you get this red-dot madness claiming that they never use it above 100 asa anyway, and that theres always RAW to pre-process images and blablabla.... I'ts a shit product, and it will remain a shit product compared to other, but it's a leica .... I will buy one for sure but I will not defend to my bottom nickers.

There will be better cameras tahn the M8, better resolution, faster and what have you, I just don't like this finding of excuses and outflights just because it's a leica.

And you must admit since the introduction of the M8 this place has been pretty much of a kindergarten.....

Michaela--

I think all of us agree that we're doing a lot of speculating, but it doesn't bother us. I'm sorry it bothers you.

Have you used the D-Lux 3's sister camera? If so, you have a right to complain about its quality of output. If not, remember that each reviewer has his own viewpoint. LuLa's Michael Reichmann admits all the defects of its predecessor but still likes the camera.

I'm in his camp. Show me another 16x9 format pocket-size camera with comparable performance. I like the camera, though there are many aspects I dislike. It may not be for you, but it fits me fine.

Not everyone is a Leica fan. Once you realize that there is a reason Leica produces fanatics, you'll start to understand. No one ever bought a Leica as his/her first camera. It's only after you've gone through all your disbeliefs and seen that there *is* something different about the camera that you end up buying one. We've all had to be convinced.

And we're all glad for your input. We would just ask that you respect us for the fact that we don't necessarily agree--with you, or with each other!

Hi HC,

I agree ... 16:9 is nice, but who needs it ?

Great to look pics on a wide screen, but I like to print images and with 16:9 this is pretty compicated, not undoable but complicated. And it's certainly not an argument (for me anyway) to buy such an expensive camera...

I try every opportunity I get, most of the local beers are OK but not like a good Belgian or German beer

Gerhard,

when these texans ride their mechanical bulls, theres probably a lot of high gravity stuff springing to mind and coming to life all the time ....

You bet. The high gravity bier springs to their throat as they sing praises to the mechanical bull and ride on into the sunset of fossil fuel.

Ya, they step on the ingredients. Much like a drug dealer, they add rice or corn to the mix to make it cheaper.

Weltenburger works for me. I should make my own.

Now wait, woman! :)

How did the topic get to beer? I haven't found a good US beer either: So we agree on one thing.

You're beginning to show signs of taste!! There's still hope for you.

Alaskan Amber........... my god who invents names for things like that.

"I'll have a pint of Alaskan Amber please"

Sounds like a Karl Largerfeld creation....

And to answer your question, no I have never come across that that brand, in beers or cosmetics ;-)

Michaela--

From a respected microbrewery in Texas there's a beer named "Fat Tire." Who knows where they get the names...

Do you know the Monty Python Australian skit in which the Python toss cans of Australian brew to the audience?

One of the troupe explains that US beer is "like making love in a canoe." When the others fail to understand, he says "It's f***ing close to water, mate!"

He's right.
