Adapting Canon FD lenses ?

I have shot Leica digital for some time now, but I miss the film shooting also from time to time. I have a classic Canon F-1 which I've owned for a long time and 3 fairly nice FD-lenses to go with it. I don't think there is any second hand value in this package at all, but I feel reluctant to just dump it. Like letting down old friends

I've been looking at both an M6 and an M7-house, and would therefore like to know if there is any way at all to adapt those lenses to these M-houses to until I can afford to buy the real stuff. Or will I have to prepare myself for the big bill on day 1 :D

Thanks in advance for any advice

Hi Marie Louise,

The Novoflex website lists a Leica-M to Canon FD adapter, code LEM/CAN. If you can find a Novoflex stockist they should be able to order it for you.

(Remember that this will let you fit the the lens to the camera with correct focus at infinity, but the Canon lenses won't couple to the Leica rangefinder or viewfinder frames.)

B&H now has a adapter listed, well they are taking orders. You will be able to use Canon fd lenses on your M camera. I have a few Canon wide angles I would like to try on my M. The adaper is 148.00 if I remmember right..

I know not Leica glass but might be fun trying a fisheye lens on a M camera.

Cheers To all and Merry X-mass Happy holidays and all that..not to much spiked egg nog..
