Advertisement Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Hi Albert4321, Take a look here Leica M7 Midland ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
john_f Posted December 14, 2008 Share #2 Posted December 14, 2008 Albert, AFAIK, all M7 cameras have been made in Germany. Here is a link to eBay.ca with this Canadian "Midland M7": http://cgi.cafr.ebay.ca/LEICA-M7-MIDLAND-BLACK-CAMERA-BODY-OUTFIT-MINT-NIB_W0QQitemZ260317261101QQcmdZViewItemQQptZFilm_Cameras?hash=item260317261101&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1215|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 Notice the "Made in Germany" stamped on the back of this "Midland M7": Here is another pic with the red Maple Leaf: Thank you for pointing out this special edition M7. Midland was key to the survival of the Leica M camera. If it wasn't for Walter Gluck of Leitz Canada who managed to convince Leitz Wetzlar (Germany) of moving all Leica M production to Midland after the M5, we most likely would not have any Leica M cameras to speak of today. Guest DuquesneG Posted December 14, 2008 Share #3 Posted December 14, 2008 I wonder...that body covering starting to peel off...is it a commemoration of the legendary Midland M4-2 quality control?
Albert4321 Posted December 14, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted December 14, 2008 John, thanks for the info. I saw that in eBay as well. However, this ebay posting has this in the description: "Desirable Canadian made Midland version with the maple leaf logo on the box." which is very confusing.
