If you're spending a couple of hours in Capture One/Photoshop, which is ergonomicaly preferable: a desk Mac such as the iMac or a MacBookPro? Has anyone worked with the new LED screens with the latter? Apple says they have more 'pop' than the LCD types.

I came to Macs as a magazine editor– page layout designer and so am used to the near-vertical screen. But maybe the rake of an open MacBook allows a more comfortable sitting posture. I look forward to your comments!

I can only say that my 2006 MacBook Pro + 30" Cinema Display make for a nice set-up. As for power, there is a slight pause when RAW files are loading up to display in Apple Aperture, but I bet the new machines are even faster.

As for 'pop' from the new displays, that might be negative for me. I'm really having a hard time getting my Epson B&W prints to match the brightness of my screen. In fact, I'm going to post something about that right now . . . .

Quite the opposite - ergonomically, you should be sitting with your back straight, looking directly at the screen - so the center of the screen should be at the height of your eyes. One company I consult to, which is very serious about health and safety, limits the use of a laptop display to 15 minutes; any work longer than that and you have to plug your laptop into an external monitor on a fully adjustable swing arm.
