mat_mcdermott Posted October 16, 2006 Share #21 Posted October 16, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Test cameras are supposed to be in the hands of reviewers next week, expect the internet to heat up again! Related to this, I was told this weekend that official sample photos would be coming within the next week as well.
Advertisement Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Hi mat_mcdermott, Take a look here Not having M8 pics or reviews is such a momentum killer!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ptomsu Posted October 16, 2006 Share #22 Posted October 16, 2006 Thread intensity picked up nicely prior to Photokina, but now I feel that the excitement level has dropped again. I literally found myself watching the forum at least 3-4 times a day when the anticipation of the M8 announcement was at its peak, but now we just seem to have fallen into a long, dark and dry wait. Aren't we already used to wait if it comes to Leica deliver on a new product? So what is really new about it? Thought things will change? Not at all obviously!!! I must actually say that my interest in this camera is getting less every month at least. Not sure if I will still buy it. Maybe everybody has a certain time window for such products, some have a longer one, some a narrower one. Thinking about the advantages the M8 would bring to me in the areas that are around for me I must say it is not worth the money. So if I buy it it is only because of the must have syndrom, not because I really need it. And a long waiting time plus another year we need to add to have the firmware mature from its initial release to somthing somehow acceptable is definitely NOT helping - at least for me! But maybe Leica knows it different, they seem to kbnow exactly how long they can wait. Peter

Peter How do you know, that the firmware delivered finally with the camera will NOT be "mature" nor even "somehow acceptable"? Are you sure, Leica will be kidding with us? Do you have any experience with the M8? H.
