marknorton Posted October 13, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hope I'm not breaking Forum Rules here but along with my Noctilux, delivered this morning, Hong Kong Supplies sent a sample of their Viewfinder Magnifier as a thank-you for the business I've placed with them. I bought the real thing just last week and this one seems to be just as good. Comes in a carbon copy leather case but without the lanyard and not threaded for a diopter correction lens, chrome or black. $70 or £38 about 1/4 of the price of the Leica version. eBay: 1.25x Viewfinder Magnifier for Leica M6/M7/MP/M8 (item 200036613800 end time Oct-22-06 20:07:40 PDT) So, if you're wondering whether the magnifier is for you but don't want to risk the full cost, this might be just the ticket. Certainly, I won't be buying another Leica one for my second body. [usual disclaimer, but they did give it to me free]

johnbuckley Posted October 13, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 13, 2006 Thanks, Mark. Just ordered one, as my magnifier was lost when that damn little chain broke. This was a good tip. Cheers, JB
sc_john Posted October 13, 2006 Share #3 Posted October 13, 2006 Good info. Does this VF have a rubber ring to protect eyeglasses from scratching? John

marknorton Posted October 13, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted October 13, 2006 Good info. Does this VF have a rubber ring to protect eyeglasses from scratching? No rubber ring! From that point of view, it's not as sophisticated an offering as the Leica version but still good value.
wizard Posted October 13, 2006 Share #6 Posted October 13, 2006 The Leica Viewfinder magnifier is patented in at least the U.S. and Germany. Which is why this other magnifier is not offered in those countries... Cheers, Andy
