Richard D Posted December 8, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 8, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I'm pretty new to digital imaging, and especially to RAW. When I ask my D-Lux 4 to shoot a b&w image in both RAW and jpeg, C1 shows me a b&w jpeg. In the C1 browser, it also shows a b&w rwl, but when I 'select' the image, it converts to color. Now, I understand I can make this .RWL into a b&w by dropping the saturation. But my question is this- is it not possible to 'shoot' in b&w RAW? The RAW data is just that, what the sensor sees. Since the sensor is a color sensor (actually a color filter over the real sensor) the RAW data will always be in color. The Jpg is also in color but the camera is the one doing the conversion to B&W (Greyscale), not you.
