Guest Ron (Netherlands) Posted November 28, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 28, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, over the last months I managed to get hold of 3 different filters for my old (1940) Summitar. Apart from the color, also the rings look quite differently, 2 of them seem to hold the glass in pressed form, one has a retaining ring. The Yellow filter (in the middle with retaining ring) reads on its side: " 1 E. Leitz Wetzlar Germany " The Red filter (on the left with pressed glass) reads on its side: " 0r. E. Leitz Wetzlar Germany " The third filter - the one on the right - which I consider an older filter since it has a less finer ring than the others - reads on its side: " KELPAN 0 / f. SUMMITAR ". Different from the other two filters there is no Leitz name engraved. I like to know what kind of filter the third filter is (the Kelpan) and for what lightning conditions it was used? any other info on these filters is also very welcome. thanks

doubice Posted November 28, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 28, 2008 Ron, 'Kelpan' is most probably the manufacturer of the filter. The letter 'O' stands for Orange if the filter is indeed orange or, it is number '0' for the density of a yellow filter. Kelpan O "f. Summitar" stands for 'für Summitar' - 'for Summitar'.
