DaveHonBF Posted November 28, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 28, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) First hello, and I hope I have the right forum. I have a Leica III and accessories that I inherited from my father. Camera body serial number is 597349. Unfortunately I know almost zero about 35 mm cameras and absolutely zero about camera lenses. I have a general photo, see below. How can I figure out what I have and approximate value? Thank you, Dave

doubice Posted November 28, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 28, 2008 Hello Dave, And welcome to the forum. What you have is a Leica IIIf (1951 - 1952) with a Summitar 2/50mm lens, a 3.5/35mm Summaron lens, 4.5/135mm Steinheil Culminar, universal viewfinder type VIOOH, a Gossen Sixtar (?) lightmeter, Leitz selftimer Leitz flash and some filters / lens hoods. The best way to determine the value would be to check ‘Sold Items’ on eBay. That way you can compare the cosmetic condition of your camera with the ones sold. Another great source for pricing information is KEH Camera Brokers, they are on line as well - www.keh.com. Best, Jan

lars_bergquist Posted November 29, 2008 Share #5 Posted November 29, 2008 There also seems to be a few filters for the Summitar, including, I guess, a polarizer. The flashgun is a CEYOO with cord. If the camera and lenses are in good shape (possibly after a CLA - Cleaning, Lubrication, Adjustment) this is actually a shooting outfit. You could put a film in it and use it occasionally, remembering your father. The old man from the Age of the Thread Mount
