Here it is handheld available light 1/10 sec F2.8 16:9 format in my studio

Of course the raw non jpeg file was so much better, but very happy with the results more later if anyone wants?

I am using an older 256 meg SD card and the write speed is a little slow, I need to get a high speed card and see, also Adobe have the new raw plug in for the dlux on line, i found it really good.

I have nothing bad to say about the camera yet, but I was not expecting miracles either my biggest regret is that Leica did not include a shoe for viewfinders.

Overall the color rendition and image quality have a great look about them, I cannot wait to take some outdoors in daylight at higher speeds.

The lcd viewfinder does have a nice feature for adjusting the screen for high overhead shots works great.

I think the most important feature for me is not missing the shots when a larger camera would have been left at home, and quite seriously I think a handheld 1/10 wide open would have been a very different looking image with 35mm film- perhaps impossible.

I'll have mine tomorrow or Thursday. I've never owned a small sensor digital at all, just a DSLR. Other than that 35yrs of silver! Only tonight did I ever pull a print from my wifes little Canon 540 6meg camera. She just looks at them on her computer and e-mails. Really the prints are very nice. If the DL3 is as good and I expect it will be I'll be fine with it. I hope for more and the 16:9 format and 28mm will be nice too. I've already got the latest ACR with DL3 RAW capabilty so I'm ready now.

I just thought of a question. I have no SD cards yet. I've been very happy with SanDisk in my D2HS. The DL3 will never write that fast but at what point do you think that card speed will make no difference? Are you getting something equivilent to a SanDisk Ultra II or III?

Come to think of it is a 2Gig the largest the camera will handle? I haven't found any of these answers in print anywhere.

Thanks

Neil

As requested the same studio shot at 400 iso, I shot it also at 1600 and 800 it was really really awfull no amount of post processing would save it.

I think the 400 is pretty nice and on down extremely good.

Sorry I am incapable of posting such a terrible image as the 800 iso !!

Mark, ir appeals to me to as atake everywhere camera, but it's not great value ! As a matter of fact it's frightfully expenisive compare to others, often with better specs too, but still it's a great looker, and it really has a nice satiny touch to it, but great value ..... no I don't think so

I said good, not great ;) But, Michaela, you are right, ultimately, it's tough to justify the Leica price uplift over the Panasonic.

Question for the original poster. Were the 800+1600 shots you saud were really bad done RAW? And PP didn't "repair" them?

As for the cost over Panasonic, it is $100. A far smaller difference than the last round and both cameras now cost quite a bit less than last time too in their earlier versions. I got my DL3 for $60 over the cost of the Panasonic version as I bought it at a store "tent sale".

Maybe the software is really different for the DL3 over the Lumix. You get more warranty and I get PS Elements to put in my wifes computer. Sounds good to me for $60 or even $100.

What do you guys want to do, make poster size prints and have no trade-off? All digital is a trade off.
