What is this prismed edge for?

I had a look at my copy of the Macro adaptor. It also has a small slice off the glass that looks like a prism. So it is not a mistake on your copy. It may be a necessary part of the magnifier for the rangefinder system?

The purpose of this lens is to magnify the image slightly and shift the image up and to the left; the lens is mounted at an angle in the frame and the reason for the chamfered corner is to prevent the corner of the lens protruding above the level of the frame so that it doesn't interfere with the camera when mounted.

Thanks, I never noticed it before (just checked on my Macro adapter), but with the explanation it all makes sense.
