There are many lovely walks in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. This fairly short (6km return?) walk takes you down from Blackheath to the spectacular Grose Valley, but in mist the walk becomes its own atmospheric wonderland.

A lovely atmospheric shot. You are making me homesick.

You seem to get around a lot of Australia - are your posts from many years of backlogged negatives, or are they all from the recent past?

Hi Gordon,

Thanks for your comments. I do like to travel, but I'm still largely desk bound here in Sydney for much of the week and my two daughters aren't that fussed about 'going bush' in the Land Rover for any length of time! One wrote an essay for school titled 'Why I hate camping'!

The Central Australian photos were taken a few years ago, but this shot was taken in January of this year. Because I don't (yet) have a Leica digital, nor a proper film scanner, my contribution to the Forum has been somewhat sporadic. My recent contributions have been mainly from a selection of slides I was asked to put onto disk for a display, and so I have been using them for the Forum as well.

On Friday I fly to the UK for 3 weeks 'to see how the other half live' and hope to have some scanned images to dsiplay after that. I'll be taking my R6 and 5 lenses, but will get the films processed and scanned before I come home.

With best wishes,

Ian

Ian,

Interesting shot and colors. Wish I could see it larger. Always enjoyable to see somthing so different.

BTW, what sort of Land Rover do you have? You will enjoy the light in the U.K. when it isn't raining. :) Where in the U.K.?

Hello William,

I drive a Discovery Tdi 'Episcopal' (previous owner is a Bishop!) which is really good off-road. I'm a member of the Land Rover Owners Club and so get to go on some interesting trips (usually solo, unfortunately). I'd really like to have a RR Sport!

In the UK I'm overnighting at Canterbury, Brighton, Salisbury, Bath, Broadway (2nights), Stoke-on-Trent, Eyam (2 nights) then to a Conference in Swanwick in Derbyshire (meet the Princess Royal), then a week in London where I'll say g'day to Sir Stirling.

Then it's home to my loved ones!

Hi William,

Thanks for your message and link. The RRS is rather delicious, isn't it!

I received a PM from you asking about the type of Land Rover I drive, and also about my forthcoming time in the UK - to which I replied in this thread. Did you send me another message? If you did, I'm sorry to say that I didn't receive it. Would you mind resending it if that is the case?

I'm attaching a couple of shots (not mine, and low res.) of my Disco in action. 2nd gear low range - let's see the Q7 do it! An accompanying V8 Landcruiser wasn't game!

Ian,

Q7? Yes, baby stuff. I sent you a private message via this Forum. If you did not get it, click on my avatar and send me an e-mail and I'll reply with a few suggestions for your U.K. visit or we can have a chat if you are on Skype.
